Reviews
There are a lot of pizzerias in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas but Donte’s far exceeds just another pizza shop!
The dough is delicious to start with- the sauce is seasoned perfectly with generous cheese and toppings!
Love being able to walk in for a quick couple of slices with free drink refills.
Atmosphere is cozy and friendly.
Prices are reasonable.
Wish them great success.
Very good we will definitely be back had large half pep half cheese it was awesome
This is some of the best pizza in Pittsburgh. The dough is sweet (possibly made with cream soda?) and light making for a nice chew when baked. The crust is crunchy outside with a pleasing, bready, warm inside. The sauce is a bit sweet as well and they put a good amount of cheese on the pie. This is critical! So many pizza places fail to put enough cheese on the pie. I’ve never had a bad slice from here and the staff are always friendly, polite and quick; I stop here regularly (3-5 visits per month) so this consistency is amazing. Also a great place to host a kid party. There’s a side room for just that thing with several games available for the kids or the kids inside grownups.
We never ordered here and after reading the reviews we figured we would give it a try! The pizza was great right down to the sauce, cheese and dough. I don't know if the cheese slid off or part of the pie was not well dressed with cheese but it didn't detract from the pizza. Things happen. All in all, we will order again!
Service was fight, employees were friendly. The steak hoagie I ordered was probably the best I have had in a long time, and the taters pounders were the best restaurant cheese fries I have ever had. I would not suggest getting the rigatoni. Sauce and pasta were very average, I could probably make something better at home cheaper.
My wife and I discovered Dante‘s about six months ago. It was comparable almost identical to Fiori’s pizza. It was convenient and local so we started to go there as our “go to pizza place”. We attempted to order one night a half white and half red sauce, pizza. To some people it’s unusual, but so is fruit on a pizza. We understand that the sauces will touch and bleed over, but we don’t have a problem with it which we clearly explained.
Back story: I’ve been ordering this pizza for several years. Harry’s pizza in the South Hills makes it, Fiori’s makes it, Luciano‘s Bethel Park, Luciano’s cranberry, Luciano North Hills, Lorenzo‘s, Mineo’s etc. the list goes on. Everybody that I know has no problem applying white sauce on the left and red sauce on the right. Is it really that difficult and that big of A deal Dante to have white sauce on the left and red sauce on the right? This is no different than if someone would walk into a burger place and ask for them to melt cheese on the fries. Just because cheese fries isn’t on the menu doesn’t mean that they can’t or wouldn’t do it for customer.
I spoke with a manager at Dante’s (not sure who it was) when I ordered this pizza. He came off with a very condescending, sarcastic cocky attitude from the get go. His response to me was, “ yes, I know how to make this and this can be made, but we don’t do that here”. Where is the customer service at? Is it really that difficult to put white sauce on the left and red sauce on the right? This now becomes the principal of the matter, and the question of, do they actually value customer service at all?
Very disappointed, and this is unfortunate.
The best pizza in this area hands down. Kind of similar to Fioris but honestly better and they’re sausage is amaze. We got mushroom, pepperoni and double chz pizzas. All amazing!
The pizza is the best in this city! Meatballs are out of world. Friendly staff. Quick and efficient. Play pinball while you wait.
